And The Tradition Continues

Dinner In A Pumpkin was a success last night!
I had a first time-ever-"glitch". The pumpkin I used was very large and round. So large that it was too tall for my oven. Andrew suggested I just cut the top 1/3 of the pumpkin off and cover the top with foil. Perfect solution! I cut it so the pumpkin looked like a huge bowl.

Enjoy our fun Halloween tradition.

Precious Memories

This why I have my love/hate relationship with Facebook.
When my cousin posts photos like this, I cannot love Facebook enough...
Such precious memories.
Each photos tells many stories.
I love spending time with my cousins
This was taken in 1963-1964 when Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Marilyn were building their house on Orchard Avenue. We are standing at the then back door which is now the family room. I remember this day clearly and could not understand why so many people wanted to take pictures of us.
This was a very fun day!
Note Uncle Lawrence's work truck in the back and the family camping trailer.
This was taken and Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Marilyn's house on State Street around 1962.
Again so many stories to tell from one picture.
I am front and center with Darlene and her brothers in the background.
I am so grateful to have copies of these photos.
More to share as time allows.

Dallas- Time Out

This is the time of year that many of my blog posts will mention
Time Out For Women.
Last weekend, I was in Dallas at a training for the Orlando Time Out For Women and Time Out For GIRLS event.
I spent the weekend surrounded by amazing women.
We worked hard and played hard.
The Orlando event is scheduled for February 28-March1.
Can I get a Hooray!!!!!????
Lots of new excitement surrounding this year. We have a new venue-Osceola Heritage Expo Center and the addition of Time Out For GIRLS. I could not be more excited and humbled in the same breath to be part of bringing this to the Women and Girls of Florida.

Important Read For All

I just finished reading, "My Story" by Elizabeth Smart.
This is an important read for everyone, especially parents.
I highlighted several points that I will definitely discuss with my daughters more than once. This could happen to any person or any family at any time.
I thank Elizabeth for being willing to share her story. There is much to learn from the way she handled her 9 months of captivity and how she has moved on after her rescue. Elizabeth is a remarkable person from an extraordinary family.
I ordered my copy HERE from Amazon Prime.

Andrew Is A College Graduate!

Earlier this evening, Ron called us all together. He said he had something important to discuss.
Andrew, Katherine, and Megan were hoping to hear they were getting a baby sister or brother
(for real)
Andrew changed his mind when he learned that Ron was presenting him with his
diploma from Utah State University.
Hooray! Congratulations, Andrew! Way to go!

All In A Day's Work (Sort of)

I got home from a quick trip to Utah last weekend (not a quick return flying stand-by, but the price was right and I got to see my sweet grand babies, so I am not complaining one bit) and realized that the next lesson I would teach introduced the liahona to Lehi's family. I had expected to be home earlier in the week to prepare but all of the sudden, this important lesson was staring me in the face.
I was looking for a picture on the internet that I could print out and use as a visual aid, but, as with most of my lessons, a picture for something this prominent in The Book of Mormon wouldn't do.
I still needed to un-pack and get settled from being gone, but Megan needed some supplies for a school project which led led me to an afternoon adventure.
I was walking through Michael's Arts & Craft store when I spotted an intricately carved metal pumpkin.
This Seminary teacher's brain did not see a pumpkin. I saw a potential liahona! (I can't help myself!)
I bought the pumpkin and by late afternoon, I had turned it in to a liahona, and it was ready to be found outside our "tent" aka classroom door, the next morning.
