In one week, we have to say good-bye to some dear friends who are moving to Utah.
Very stinky...this approaching Good Bye.
We are stronger as a family and as individuals from knowing these wonderful people. We have honestly had angels among us and their influence will be with our family eternally.
At first glance, one may not realize they are in the presence of extraordinary people, however, this quiet, unassuming family is a force for good wherever they are. Their presence will be missed in many pockets of our Ward and Community.
One of their daughters is EXACTLY the same age and grade I was when my family moved to New Jersey from Missouri...a few months left of my Junior Year in High School only to spend my Senior Year as the new kid in High School. ROUGH..but I lived and so will their daughter. I have spent some time encouraging her. I really DO know what she is going through.
We are all trying to list the positives about this move, but it is a sad time for them to leave and sad for us to have them go.
Positive...We will see them a few times a year in Utah
Negative...We won't have them close by for days at the beach, bike rides, etc
Positive...A great job opportunity for their dad.
Negative...My daughter's best friend in the entire world is leaving.
Positive...We have learned so much from this wonderful family
We are hosting a little get together this afternoon. It was hard to know what to call it. No one is celebrating that they are leaving, yet we certainly wish them well on their new journey. We will celebrate all the amazing ways they have touched so many lives in their quiet, unassuming way.
I know Good-Bye is merely "So-Long", but I don't even like saying so-long. I have had to say too many Good-Byes in my life and they just stink. This one is particularly stinky! Yet, I have to remember that as sad as I am about them leaving, it is much harder for them to be the ones actually leaving and making all the changes and adjustments that come with such a drastic move.
My prayer is for God to be with them and for those they meet to know what wonderful people they have in their midst. For those who have to say Good-Bye, I pray we remember the lessons we have learned as this family has lived each day.

What have I personally learned from this family? It will take another post, however,
one lesson learned...
I have NEVER heard un-kind words, gossip, etc. come from their lips. Ever.

How do you handle Good-Byes?
Do you have an amazing person in your life?

How does one say goodby to Ron and Shauna after so many years????
I say good-bye to friends in my ward every summer. Last year 10 families moved away from Boston. I love making friends and try to keep up with people after they move. It's hard. But then I think how much they've enriched my life and if it's only for a few years, then I'd rather have that than nothing. :)
