Easter from Grandma
As a child, a package from my Grandma Hogie at Easter, Christmas, or Birthdays always made the celebration complete. My Grandma was a master Candy-Maker. Each Easter and Christmas, a box of Home-made candies arrived and were promptly devoured.
Each Easter, Grandma would send each child in our family one of these eggs with our name piped on the shell with colored icing. I loved to look inside at the Spring Time scene. If I remember correctly, her friend made these eggs each spring and sold them in the community.
I dont ever remember eating or even wanting to eat one of these eggs, I just enjoyed having it out and looking inside. As Grandma's health declined and I grew up, the eggs and home made candy stopped, yet the memories are always with me.
Each spring that I am out west, I look for these eggs and purchase them to bring home to Florida so my children will have the opportunity to enjoy one of my childhood memories.

These sugar eggs are the inspiration for my new little Easter Boxes. I have happy memories of them too. I never ate mine either. Do kids eat these? I don't really like royal icing. I heard that your Dad is the big candy maker these days though.
Aren't these available in Florida?
And, did you happen to get the coconut cake recipe from my Aunt Jackie's blog. You can probably get the frozen coconut in Florida.
Have a happy Day Shauna!
I am so excited to see the new sugar egg boxes. Yes, my dad is the candy maker now. I am holding out hope that Jenni will continue the tradition... we all know she is beyond capable.
Have Albertson's order the coconut for you out there. The Albertsons here orders things for me that I usually can only find in the west.
The Sugar eggs are here, but not as good. I always buy them when I am out there for Conference or enjoying spring.
