Kat's Birthday Party

Photos from the Birthday/St Patricks Day Party

*Upon arrival, each child received one of these Green glittered hats to decorate with shamrocks.

*Guess the jelly bean flavor?? We played a game with 4 different colored/flavored jelly belly jelly beans. All were some shade of green. I gave them the names of 6 flavors to choose from. I passed one color at a time and had them write down which flavor they thought they were eating.

Search for the Pot of Gold..... Scavenger Hunt.
This could be an entire post. After several clues
they found a pot of gold with gold foil covered
coins for each child. Very Very big hit!!!!

Goody Bags filled with green goodies. Bottles of shamrock green bubbles, shamrock lollipops, green bracelets, green, green, green! Thanks to one stop shopping from Oriental Trader!

Katherine made the goody bags by gluing the die-cut shamrock on.

Cupcakes..... I LOVE this tiered cupcake holder. I have seen several. Target has a Wilton brand one in the Easter/ spring baking section.
Normally, I buy an elaborate cake that is promptly wasted and smeared all over. These homemade cupcakes with a small amount of icing were perfect.

Candy guessing jars.... I prepared 4 jars filled with candies. Each guest had to make a guess as to how many pieces of candy they thought were in each jar. The winners were announced as Katherine opened her gifts. I spaced the announcements out about every 3rd gift. This kept the kids focused and attentive at a time they become restless.
Winners took home the jar they made the closest guess on.

Other fun activities, we kissed a "blarney stone", learned and danced the Irish jig, had leprechaun relay races, at lots of green food, enjoyed green drinks.
This was the first time in a few years I have hosted a child's party at my house. I usually opt for the ice skating rink type party. This was a lot of work yet, oh so fun!
I did break one of my own rules---Note to self: 20+ young children is tooooo many to invite to any party regardless of how much help I have! ( We invited 24 children thinking for certain that several would not be able to attend.... wrongoooo....20 RSVP'd and then... some obscure neighbors from clear across the way showed up! We had extras of everything, thank goodness!)
I am so aware of trying not to exclude others, that the invite lists to any event I host grows to a large crowd in no time flat.
