Children's Literature Recommendation

Summer is upon us... 4 more weeks of school! With summer comes time to dive into some great books...for kids and moms.
When my boys were little, I got the most reading done at the beach while they played and burned off their energy.
Currently, my girls have an assignment from their school Principal to write summer Book Review Recommendations. They are having a lot of fun with this task and so am I.

Two book series I recommend are Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and Snip, Snap Snurr by Maj Lindman. Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka are triplet young girls and Snip, Snap, and Snurr are triplet young boys, all living in Sweden. The books take place circa 1940.
Each story has a tone of kindness, courage, gentleness, and responsibility. The illustrations are bright and sweet. There is an illustration to go with each written page. Many of the illustrations are still vivid in my mind some forty (yes, forty+) years later. The print is also large and very easy to read. My parents are of Swedish ancestry and these were the books I grew up with. We would check them out of the library in hard back. Since their re-release, they are only available for purchase in softcover. Find them here, or at Amazon.
Literature of this quality is in short supply as time goes on. These are books your children will ask to read over and over-the sort of books to purchase and add to your permanent library. They are the perfect length for a bed-time story read by mom, dad, or grandma for ages 3 and up. I love books that can be completed in one bed-time story sitting. Children 8 and older will also enjoy reading them alone.

Enjoy! I am certain you will!

These sound really fun! Thanks! :) Charity is right now enjoying a favorite of Jenni's from her childhood called Landslide.
