Mothers Day Book

To Thine Own Self Be True...

"My Symphony" by William Henry Channing
Illustrated by Mary Engelbreit (one of my favorites)
The simple, yet powerful poem written by 19th century clergyman, William Henry Channing is lovingly illustrated by Mary Engelbreit. Her art perfectly accompanies this verse.
This message is as significant in our time as it was then.
This book was a gift to my daughter, Megan, from her Grandma Cid, who passed away when Megan was still a baby. This was the most insightful advice for a Grandmother to leave a newborn Granddaughter who will, someday, grow up to be a lovely young woman, and perhaps a mother.
As Women and Mothers, our lives get complicated and bogged down to the point that we miss the true simplicity and clarity of what we are about.
This simple and refreshing verse reminds us to stop long enough to see, hear, and appreciate the world and to follow our hearts. When we do this, our influence is far reaching.
My husband's mother lived and understood the timeless message contained in William Channing's. She knew who she was and was true to herself, hence her influence was far-reaching. My husband is able to seek and recognize truth and goodness in all areas of life as a result of his mother's perspective and influence.
When we are our best-not the best of someone else- we are True To Ourselves. The world is a better place as a result of our authenticity.
This beautiful book with an even more beautiful message is a keepsake for future generations.
A perfect message and gift for all the girls and women in your life!
Happy Mother's Day!
