Calling all Camera knowledge, experience, and opinions.
We are on the verge of retiring our dinosaur age cameras. We are doing our homework and would like input on 1) DVD Video Cameras 2) Digital Cameras.
If you have browsed my blog, it is obvious I do not have the greatest camera. I want something simple, easy to tote in my purse, and that takes great photos. Nothing too over the top with lots of bells and whistles. If I find the right replacement, I'm ready to switch.
I need the Video Camera input before my final Father's Day Shopping trip Saturday. Oh... I do hope Ron does not read my blog until after Sunday.

I have to say that Canon cameras are top of the line...or at least that's what I was told when I bought my first digital camera. They are not the least expensive but they are reasonably priced. I have the Canon powershot (don't remember the model) digital camera and it's great. It is compact, light and takes awesome pictures. I highly recommend getting one of them. I've heard the Canon elphs are good too. Here's a link to their site, www.powershot.com. Also, don't get anything less than 5 megapixels. Five mp's are good if you are just taking regular sized pictures. If you are looking to blow up the pics or are more serious about photography than you might consider getting 7-8 mp's. I have 5 and it's good but 8 is better! I hope this helps. Good luck, let us know what you choose :)
I forgot to talk about video cameras. I have a hi-8 camera now. I'm not sure which brand is good but if I were to buy another one I would buy a hard drive camcorder. They have built in hard drives so you can record without tapes and you can transfer your videos to your computer and edit them easier. I want one! Good luck :)
We have really enjoyed our canon digital camera. They now make them even smaller and slimmer (like a deck of cards).
We love our Cannon as well! In fact, at our wedding we discovered that 7 of the 8 children in the family had Cannon Digital cameras.
