Check Up Time

In January 2007, I participated in the annual Susan G Komen Race for The Cure. At the time I raced, 6 months ago, no one close to me had battled Breast Cancer. Yet as I write, two women close to me are fighting Breast Cancer. My friend,
Nancy A in St George, UT and my cousin Linda in American Fork, UT.
I thank them both for being open with their diagnosis, treatment, and progress. With this information, I am able to pray for their strength and healing daily.
With this information, I also, did not put off making my appointment for my annual mammogram, something I had considered doing until the kids went back to school. Thank you for sharing and for being such brave examples to me!
This year, my goal is to RUN the Race for The Cure the entire way, instead of Run/Walk. With these women in mind and the thousands I don't even know, I will feel honored to run with them in mind.
The way I stay current with my annual check ups for me is to make sure they are scheduled during the month of my birthday- August. When I am asked when my last mammogram, pap-smear, etc. was, I always know- August.
As far as Dental Cleanings for the children- I always have one in July, Back to School time. Then the 6 month dental cleaning is January- right after all the Christmas goodies are consumed. I used to try to have the Dental Cleanings during the month of each child's Birthday, but it got too confusing. The annual physicals are always the month of the child's Birthday, yet once they got older, the check-ups coincided more with Back To School and/or sports/ camps Physicals.
Thank goodness for my large wall calendar--the Master Schedule! I really should post a photo of this Annual Road Map!

I love race for the cure and decided a few months ago that this will become one of our family traditions. A few too many people close to me have battled and/or lost their lives to breast cancer. Are you talking about Nancy A, as in Gary's wife? Thanks for sharing this, it reminded me of my love for breast cancer awareness!

Is that the same Nancy A I know? I had no idea she was going through that. Thanks for letting us know. Good luck in your goal! I love the scheduling for appointments thing. You are full of so many good ideas that could simplify my life. Luckily, I have already started having my paps every August. I guess I'll keep them that way! I'll be honest that I have no idea when you start getting the mammograms.
