School Days Bring A Return To Routine and a Return To Cooking
At my house on this first day of school, dinner was cooking by 8am.
Tonight is Chalupa Night!!!!
Once I fought the Back to School morning carpool crowd, I returned home and prepared dinner, yes, dinner. I love using a Crock Pot for busy and not so busy days. I don't have to think about what to cook all day because it is already cooking. This morning, I made a recipe for Chalupas, recommended here by my sister, Jenni. Just popped it all in the Crock Pot and it is ready when you return home tired and not in the mood to cook. Jenni is on a blog hiatus, yet her site is full of delicious ideas. Plenty of ideas to peruse and enjoy! I cant wait for her to return with her dose of recipes and cooking advice, plus her humor is always something to look forward to.
Over the years, I have used my Crock Pot to bake bread, Bake Potatoes, Cakes, and the usual Pot Roast, Turkey Breast, Stew, Chili, etc. We eat better when I can plan a meal or two per week centered around this cooking method.I am always looking for fix-it-and-forget-it recipes.
Please share.
I love this Crock Pot by designer Mary Englebreit I am an Englebreit fan. Had I not already had a Crock Pot I like, this one would be part of my kitchen.
I have the one pictured in the main photo. I love the shape of the Crock and the fact that it is removable.

Crock pot meals are the best! Our favorite recipe came from Nancy- it is called Creamy Black Bean and salsa chicken; we have made it for many people and everyone loves it! If you'd like it, we'll have to get the recipe to you!
We have the same crock pot as you but haven't used it because we have two others (small and medium) that are perfect for our little family.
I don't know "nikolas and emily" but I'd sure love the recipe. I too have the same crock pot and I love it. There's nothing like a delightful meal without the heat of the stove and or oven. I like to set my crock pot on the patio to eliminate any heat in the kitchen.
That's my crockpot too! The handle on my lid broke off after a year. I emailed the company and they just sent me out a brand new one. I thought that was great.
One of my favorite things in the crockpot is just ridiculously easy. Chicken Cacciatore of sorts. I just throw in some chicken breasts, a bag of frozen bell peppers/onions mix, a jar of my favorite spaghetti sauce plus a little water. Sometimes I add a little extra crushed garlic and some parmesan cheese. Serve over fettucini or spaghetti.
