My Latest Project

More than a little cleaning....Facing My Garage!
Yes, I know this is an Easter Photo of my house. No, I am not confused. The Garage is the area of note and the subject of this post.
For the past two days, I have been working my tail off in the above garage.
For some perspective, I realized that my 3-Car Garage is the size of our first apartment. This Garage is now chock full of 27 years of living a full life with 5 children. Admittedly , there are some fun memories stored along with Seasonal Decorations, tools, etc. After today, there is a lot less in the etc. category!
There is a saying that goes something like this: Stuff mulitplies according to the space avaialble. Yes, I am living proof of that!
Tonight, when Ron arrives home and the Garage Door opens, I may need to have the paramedics on call, better yet, stationed in my driveway. He may have Heart Failure at the sight of the cleaned garage. The Paramedics will need to remain close by for the moment he opens the door of the Garage Freezer, also. It is defrosted, wiped clean, and ready to fill.
The defrosting of my freezer is a project my mom has undertaken many times while at my house. Katherine was a little confused as to why we were doing the chore that Grandma loves to do. The Freezer project made me so thankful for the many, many times my mom has taken on that task for me! (Thanks mom)
The result of this project=
2 Trips to Goodwill ( I am driving a rental car, my Suburban would have made it in one full trip)
1 Ebay Pile
1 Garage Sale Pile (the thing I say I will never do, but will do soon)
I found my Drivers License (the one I have already replaced)
I found my old camera Memory Stick (the one I already replaced)
I found last month's Readers Digest still in the wrapper (the one I was certain did not arrive)
1 Trip to the Post Office to mail some treasures
For a person who purges often and gets rid of "stuff" often, I must say, it builds up so fast!
I could spend (and will) another 2 days in the Garage. After all, it is only 99 degrees outside, just where I love spending my day with no Air Conditioning.
Regardless of the heat, this project felt sooooooo good!

99 degrees? Your thermometer must be in the shade with a fan blowing on it! Should I pray for Ron's well being? We love him too much to lose him at such a "young" age. If it were me, I'd wait until January.

Good for you Shauna!
You have my invitation to fly out and "do it again" at my house. I dare not let anyone see our garage. We can fit both cars in but I must say, I have to get out in the driveway before NY pulls the cadillac in. The walls are lined with shelves full of our "stuff" and the kids "stuff" all of which I'm sure none of us would miss if it all fell off the planet. How can you miss something you don't remember you have?? I love the photo ads of garages in magazines where the sale is everything one needs to have an organized garage. I always wonder just what would fall out of the streamlined cabinets if the cabinet door was opened.
You've surely earned relaxing by the pool doing absolutely nothing tomorrow. Love your Blog!!

Oh.. I need to do that. And, I have plans to make a cute mud room outside for all the wet winter wear.. not a prob in Florida.. but for sure one here. Glad that you got your garage cleaned out though.

ps. loved that Magic Eraser.. how have I lived with out it for so long? Amazing. I am rarely so thrilled with a $2 purchase.
