September 11, 2001

July 19,2001
The last photos I took of the World Trade Center.....
This was one of many annual trips to NYC, The Statue of Liberty, etc., visiting relatives and never once thinking that the next summer...the NYC Skyline, and the entire nation and world, for that matter, would be forever changed.
Do you remember where you were when you heard about the 9-11-01 attack?
I do...and I am certain everyone has a story about where they were, what they were thinking, and how they felt.
September 11, 2001-Where were you and what were you doing?
This is where my children, my husband, and I were....
Curt was in Venezuela serving as a missionary
Jeffrey was in Idaho at BYU-Idaho at College
Andrew was at Wellington High School
Katherine ws 4 years old and in Pre School at St Peters
Megan was 2 years old
Ron was working for Catalfumo
I was at home. I was on the phone with my friend and neighbor, Vivian. She worked at the hair salon and I was on the phone with her making an appointment for a haircut with Karen. Vivian told me to turn on the TV and asked if I knew what was happening in New York....That was the first I had heard of the attacks. I watched them happening on live TV and then, as everyone else, I watched them re-played over and over and over.
My first concern was that my sister Jenni and her husband Robert were not, for any reason, near the WTC that day. Robert was in school at NYU and they lived in Westchester County right outside NYC. At that point, it was not clear whether the attacks were in one area or spreading all over. When I called their house and heard Robert's voice answer... I was so relieved.
Then came the reality of the impact of these attacks...

I was trying to make some of the same calls as you.. but we couldn't get through not because the line was busy.. but because too many people were using the line. Finally, Dad got through and reported back to everyone who were really worried. Rob was sick that day thank Heaven or who knows how worried Jenni would have been if he wouldn't have been able to get home for quite awhile. I was so grateful.
