Instead of Chips or Cookies...
Using assorted Breakfast Cereals,
making my own snack mix has been
a huge hit for at home and on the go this summer.
Rather than grab a bag of chips or cookies for our
trips to the beach, I grab a large Ziploc Bag and fill
it with a few cups of each of the Breakfast Cereals
from my pantry. Everyone is happy. You can add nuts,
marshmallows, pretzels, or dried fruit, but the Cereal
alone seems to be just right in this corner of the world.
When we are on the go...they eat it dry, at home...they
eat it dry or with milk, making it an even better snack choice.
Publix has a Buy one Get One Free most every week on some
sort of cereal and with coupons on top of the sale...Cereal
becomes an economical snack also.
My children think they are the only ones who don't get to have
all the "junk" sugary cereal on a regular basis. I don't mind
buying some of the "junk" sugary cereal for snacks, especially
if it is mixed with less sugary cereals or consumed with milk.
When they want the "junk" sugary cereal as the main part
of breakfast, that is where I draw the line and say No.
I don't' allow myself to eat my favorite, Corn Pops Cereal for
breakfast, only an occasional snack. I have resigned
myself to Oatmeal with ground flax seed as a fact of life
and a matter of health.
If nutrition did not matter....what is your favorite
Breakfast Cereal? Do you like mine? Corn Pops?
Are you old enough to remember when they were called
Sugar Pops?

Love the snack idea!
We've got a two year old boy who would love this, and a little girl coming in August.
Thanks for the great idea!
I'm so old I didn't even know the name had been changed to Corn Pops!
Captain Crunch. The kids and I use to buy that and eat it for dinner when their dad was on duty.
Lucky Charms or Reese's Puffs.
