Grandma Doris
One moment, you can be planning to pressure wash the driveway, do chores around the house, and watch the Florida Gators play the Georgia Bulldogs....Then you check your phone messages....
As Ron did first thing this morning. There was a message from our family in Ohio. Our Grandma Doris passed away at 95 years old.
Ron immediately returned the call, called his brother, got on the computer, purchased plane tickets, reserved a hotel, reserved a car, and GOT IN THE 4 HOUR LINE TO EARLY VOTE (he won't be home in time to vote on actual Election Day, as planned).
The pressure washing will wait and it looks like The Gators will win. (all minor, minor details)
Grandma Doris is actually Ron's "Step-Grandma", however, we leave the whole "step" thing out of the title and relationship.
Doris was married to her first husband for 50 years, then she was married to Ron's Grandpa Archie for 17 Years until he passed, then she was married to her late husband, Howard, for 8 years.
She was one of the happiest people I have ever met. She did not seek fanfare or the limelight, she just tried to be the best person possible and she succeeded. She had a bright outlook with always something positive to say. She raised 3 wonderful daughters. She lived in Ohio until she retired and then spent winters here in Florida, until recently, when going back and forth each season became too much. She passed away in Ohio after 95 amazing years. Can you imagine the things she has seen in 95 years?
Doris is the kind of person this world needs more of. She made her mark on this world by living every day as a good person.
