"Life can only be understood BACKWARD,
But must be lived FORWARD"
The original title of this blog was "Objects In The Rear view Mirror", as I believe in learning from what is behind me while focusing on the road ahead. Someday, one of the books I write may have that title. For a number of reasons, the title changed to the light hearted: "Shauna-na-na".
This does not, however, mean that I have stopped learning from the experiences in my Rear view Mirror. Not for one minute.
I believe one of the biggest challenges in life is to learn from the experiences in our Rear view Mirrors, yet not allow a continual focus on those experiences.
What happens when the Rear view Mirror receives ALL the attention and energy? AT best, we are sidetracked and get back on the road. Most of the time, however, the consequences are far reaching...We go OFF THE ROAD...we CRASH...we are HURT. Sometimes we are sidelined for long periods of time while we heal from injury and pain.
Have you spent too much time focusing on the Rear view Mirror and NOT on the road ahead? In many areas, and at many seasons in life, I have. Too many times, I have allowed the negativity of others and my own thoughts to keep me in a place where I cannot even see the road while I am fixated on the Rear view Mirror. Many times, I did not even realize I could not see the road or that I had such a strong focus backwards.
When I finally get my focus back on the road ahead, it is amazing to me how much time I wasted focusing backwards. Not only did I waste time, it was harmful to my body and spirit every time I kept my eyes focused in the wrong direction for any length of time. It is dangerous to take your eyes off the road.
Focus on the road....Glance at the Rear view Mirror...this is the key to happiness and success. Dont allow the Objects in The Rearview Mirror to become bigger than they are.
