It's a Done Deal

Last night....the new PTA Board was voted in at our school. Yes, with Yours Truly at the helm. Being voted in with input and discussion invited from the floor is such an uneasy feeling...so subjective and vulnerable. There was no discussion or comments on the proposed Candidates, and then I exhaled....
This is not my first rodeo in this role, but there is very little comparison to then and now, except that I am still Me.
How did I manage without a cell phone, multiple e-mail addresses, Conference Call Lines, Facebook, Text Messaging, and, well, a computer in general?
I was telling one of my new Board Members about life without those things and I could tell she was thinking, how OLD is this woman REALLY.... After all, none of them can believe I have TWO married Children. Yep, I tell them, believe it.
I have an amazing Board of dedicated Worker Bees (did not have that years ago...I was a One- Woman-Show by default) combined with a School FULL of dedicated, Worker Bee parents who are not allergic to rolling their sleeves up and working to make a difference for their child's school.
Some of these Parents approached me with their individual concerns last night.
One of them was priceless....
She was concerned about the DIRT on the Playground. Uhmmmm, yes, it is a PLAYGROUND...there will be dirt ( I just listened) Here was her real concern....she cannot keep her son's socks WHITE. Bleach is not helping....she has to buy new socks every few months. The dirt and too much bleach are ruining the socks.
I just smiled and listened as she gave me her written contact information and her pledge to investigate options to solve this DIRTY issue.
Uhmmm, My suggestion...Perhaps she should switch to BLACK SOCKS.....
See, there I go, just over simplifying EVERYTHING already!

If that's one of the bigger things she worries about, she's got a pretty easy life
