The Most Important School Supply

Is Not Packed Into a Back Pack...
Sharpened Pencils, Scissors, Rulers, Hand Sanitizer, Markers and Crayons of many colors, Lunch Money, Snacks, Back Packs with lots of compartments, New Shoes, a Good Night's Sleep, and every other preparation for Back To School fill this time of year with excitement and anticipation. New School Supplies are so much fun.
However....
The Most Important "School Supply" did not ride to school in a Back Pack this morning. It traveled in the hearts and minds of my children.
They received "Back To School" Priesthood Blessings last night (an annual tradition in our family).
I can think of no better school supply than a Blessing of strength, comfort, protection, warning, and encouragement. In fact, I cannot imagine sending my children to school without this added strength.
As a Home Teacher, Ron always offers a Back To School Blessing for the children in families where there may not be a Priesthood Holder.
Last night, right along with the children, I received my own "Back To School" Blessing for the first time. It left me wondering why I had never asked for one before. Now I know... just ask!
Do you have this tradition?
What are other Back To School Traditions?

Funny- the title on your blog was just what I was thinking SUnday night!! Kenidee started Kindergarten yesterday. Ken left Aug 1 to go back to Iraq, so the day he left he gave her the"back to school" blessing. I took notes and then Sunday night before bed, I read them back to her so she could remember what Daddy said in the blessing. I am so grateful for the priesthood!! I should have had him give me one too- I will have to wait till Nov or Dec when he is home again!

My kids always had a Priesthood Blessing at the begining of the new school year. I truly wanted NY to give each of the grandkids blessings this year.

My family always got our back to school father's blessings. I can remember my dad's huge hands on my little head starting from a very young age. I believe I requested them before I started school because I wanted what the older kids had. It was always a special time that I hold near and dear to my heart! You're right, the school year doesn't officially start without them!
