Where Were You

On September 11, 2001?
I was in the office at our house on Orchid Court making a phone call to schedule a hair appointment. Vivian, my neighbor who also worked as one of the Salon Receptionists, answered the phone. When I said hello and she knew it was me, she interrupted my sentence and said, "Why are you calling me? Turn the TV on NOW."
I turned the TV on just in time to see the second plane hit the World Trade Center. At the same time, I was calling Ron, who was in his office at Catalfumo Construction.
Andrew was at Wellington High School
Jeffrey was at BYU-Idaho
Curt was in Venezuela serving as a Missionary
My parents were in Montana serving as Missionaries
My sister and her husband were living in a suburb of New York City. I was so relieved to hear their voices on the other end of the phone that day!
That day and for many days after, I remember feeling a strong desire to be with my family and express my love to each of them.
I also remember feeling paralyzed and not wanting to go anywhere. It seemed that the TV was on 24/7 for a few days. I remember making a concious choice to turn the TV off and resolve to move forward as an individual and a proud American.
I love the United States of America.
Where were you?
What were your thoughts and feelings that day?
Is your life different because of 9/11?

I was in the shower listening to the radio when I heard them screaming about what they were watching. I jumped out of the shower and started watching the Today show. I was SO scared that day.
