Great News

After a Long Week, no.... a long first 10 weeks of school....
After our record-long School Board Meeting on Wednesday Night, there was no way the Superintendent of Schools and The Board Members could ignore the concerns of thousands of parents, teachers, and students.
It was clear during the midnight wrap up discussion between the Superintendent and Board Members that they were divided and we would still have weeks of debate, bureaucracy, etc. HOWEVER, the wait was short.
This morning, School Superintendent Dr. Art Johnson call all Palm Beach County School Principals to a Closed-Door Meeting.
The result....Principals are now authorized to run their schools in the manner that is best for the students and teachers...imagine that...control was given to individual Principals.
And greater news...I did not get arrested Wednesday night. (Yes that threat was made to me and the large group I was standing with outside the School Board Auditorium. We were not unruly, we just wanted to stand where we would be next in line to be allowed in to the room when people left)
It is time to get back to teaching, learning, and being united as a school. This has been a stressful time for all.
Regardless of this decision today, it is clear that we need to clean house at The Palm Beach County School Board, starting with the Superintendent and a few of the Board Members.
Happy Weekend!
