Inspiration This past week, I have enjoyed reading the blog of Kristi at Everything Is Pink. She ran her first marathon in Baltimore last Saturday (10/13) She has graciously shared her experiences. I have been inspired by her desire to stretch and challenge herself in an area that was totally new to her. Importantly, I was reminded of my commitment to RUN the 10K Race For The Cure in West Palm Beach this January. Each year, I walk the course with ease and decided I need to challenge myself. A hip/lower back injury sidelines me and caused me to take my eye off the mark. I am healed have needed a huge cattle prod to get me back on course. Thank you, Kristi for pointing me back on track!
For The Record....Today, I ran, more than walked, 4.5 miles. Outside, not on a treadmill! I like running/walking outside on a set course, one that I cannot turn around easily and head back, one that I am forced to complete once I get moving along. I also look for a route that will provide a drink or potty break along the way, if necessary. Publix is not just for shopping....I chose one of my old routes from pre-having-the-girls-days. (10 years ago)It was really hard, the sun was getting hotter by the minute, even at 8am, yet it felt great. I am already a little sore, tomorrow morning will be the real test.I was amazed how well I did. I used to be able to run almost the entire way, yet did not expect to run such a large portion of the route! I told myself that this was a walking trip, yet the running just came and I could keep going better than anticipated. Yahoooo!
