Baby Blankets With Love: Part 2

Baby Blankets: Week 2
(See previous post for Week 1 details)
The Baby Blanket project was carried over for another week. This week, we made 5 blankets. The girls who were now "veterans" in the art of baby blanket making took the new arrivals under their care and guided them each step of the way. It was wonderful to see them work together so well. Their loving hearts were stitched in to each blanket. Each of the blankets (with the exception of 1) will go to complete strangers, babies and mothers who these girls will never meet. Just knowing they were helping make someones life a little brighter is the only motivation these girls need. They truly understand the principle that serving others is serving God.
At the end of Baby Blanket Week 2, all blankets are stitched, turned right side out, and pinned, read for top-stitching and/or tying with yarn. The first part of September, we will add the finishing touches to our last five blankets.
The total will be 9 completed Blankets. We have decided this will be an ongoing project to benefit local babies in need. We will set up our Baby Blanket workshop at least quarterly.

When many of their peers are spending summer evenings on the phone, computer, at the mall, out with friends, etc. These incredible Young Women are happy to be serving others and making live a little easier for a total stranger. The girls have learned a new skill, spent time with positive peers, and rendered a kind act of service. This is the formula for successful, happy teens and adults.
