When the 4:30am alarm awoke me, I was anticipating a struggle to wake up Megan, on this, the day of her solo flight to Utah. On the contrary, Katherine was already up and dressed and Megan popped out of bed with the switch of her lamp light turned on.
Excited is an understatement to describe Megan's state this morning as we headed to Ft Lauderdale Airport.
After finally securing a parking space (the triumph of the day) and getting Megan checked in as an unaccompanied minor, Katherine and I took her to the gate where her plane was already boarding. She did not want any "mushy" hugging and kissing to embarrass her. Regardless of the mushiness, I had to hug and kiss her good-bye. As Megan headed down the jet way, Katherine walked behind her and made sure she gave her a final hug and kiss. This was a little more mushiness than Megan wanted as she set out for her solo flight.
I am already missing Megan yet in the same breath, I am so excited for her to have this adventure. When she returns, she will be 8 years old!
