Unaccompanied Minors....
After meeting the Production Crew, Actors, and Support Staff of this movie over a period of months, I was interested to see the final project. On several of my 2006 visits to Utah, I stayed at my favorite Home away from Home, The City Center Downtown Salt Lake City Residence Inn. The production crew rented out most of the 1st floor in the Second Building at The Residence Inn and set up shop. Each time I visited, I met new players in the filming and production. I ate breakfast with the crew members and actors on several mornings. It was interesting to hear the details regarding filming a movie. The crew was delightful and very open to share experiences and information. I wish I had kept in better touch with some of them. The entire movie was filmed in Utah. Most of the movie took place in an imaginary Hoover International Airport. I was expecting to recognize shots of The Salt Lake City Airport, but then learned that the Salt Lake City Public Library was used as the "airport". I recognized a few shots from the Crossroads Mall and from the hallways of my beloved Residence Inn. It was fun to see some of the familiar Salt Lake City sites. Thank goodness I was paying attention to more than the story line (weakly developed) and the acting ( weak) This weekend, we finally rented the DVD.... all I can say is....don't spend too much $$ renting or buying it.
There was nothing spectacular about the story(although it could have been developed), acting (lacked much depth, generally), etc., however, my girls watched it over and over enjoying every silly minute. The child actors were fun. In person, they were delightful, also.
I feel like I watched this production grow and develop, therefore probably even more patient with the silliness of the movie than most would be. Not a classic or Box Office Blockbuster Hit, but may be fun for your kids. It was basically Home Alone in The Airport with FIVE kids instead of ONE.
