Wellington Ward
Memorial Day Picnic 2008
This Annual Picnic has become a wonderful tradition for members of The Wellington Ward along with their friends and family. The day begins with a Softball Game between the Elders Quorum and The High Priests (Yes, The Elders won...AGAIN!) The Men's Game is followed by a Women's Game (I was on Team #1 and we WON!) After the games, it is time for a Patriotic Memorial Day Program, Flag Ceremony, All-You-Can-Eat Lunch, Pie Eating Contest, Soccer Game, Volleyball Games, Egg Toss, Tug-O War,Sno-Cones, etc. All of this with an incredible Live Band Performance. It is a day anticipated year round for many. The Sno-Cones and Pie-Eating Contest are the two attractions my children look forward to with great excitement.
The photos below are during the Picnic Portion of the day. They are in random order and only a small slice of what is on my camera. I sent my camera off with different people during the day and was surprised at some of the shots..including, yours truly!
Enjoy the memories of this Annual Tradition....
Darlene B, Andrew, and Linda L serving lunch....
What was for lunch?? Burger and Hot Dogs on the grill along with Beans, Rice, Watermelon, and yummy desserts.
Linda and Russ preparing the last minute details for lunch. These two are the force behind the scenes at any event. They are simply amazing! Thank you, Russ and Linda.
For the first time in the history of this picnic....5 years.... I got to be a guest! I went through the food line, played softball, enjoyed visiting with others, and did not have to arrive at the crack of dawn or stay until sunset! I loved starting this tradition, yet it felt very good to pass it on to the capable hands of the new Activities Committee
Jessie enjoyed the fun all day.
Note Lacy's shirt...she was the Youth Division Winner of The Ultima 90-Day Fitness Challenge. She has lost over 40 pounds. She is an amazing person!
