Have The Paramedics Close By!
After seeing the total cost to fill your gas tank, you may pass out, hence,
I suggest that a Paramedic be on duty at each Gas Station.
Soon to follow.... a Paramedic and a Security Officer at each Grocery Store.
Today, I spent $99.00 filling my tank.
It was only $99.00 because that is as high as the pump allows.
I had to take a picture. This is history, like it or not, and we are living it.
There will come a day when I tell my Grandchildren that we ONLY paid $4.00 per gallon for gas
and some of our cars only got 15-20 miles per gallon.
When I started driving, gas was around 40 cents per gallon.
I remember the gas shortages in the late 70's and waiting in the lines in New Jersey.
The rationing....The odd and even days to wait in line...
With Megan's leg in a cast, we are obviously not
riding bikes to and from school each day.
Daily Bike riding made such a big difference in the amount of gas I used. Ouch!
I am finding myself carefully planning my errands and the running around I have to do.
I don't even want to sign the girls up for summer camps as driving them to and from will cost an extra $100 just for gas. This will be one of those summers we stay close to home.
This next week, I will be carefully planning my menus and grocery shopping--
something I have not done in years.
Every time I buy groceries, the prices are up.
Milk at Publix is now $4.19 per gallon for 2%
It was under $4.00 3 weeks ago.
With gas and food prices creeping up by the day...

Our gas just went up to $3.69. I am not looking forward to this summer because I hear the prices are supposed to go even higher. I also remember hating to pay $1.06 for gas my freshman year of college.
I cringe every time I see the prices go up wondering what we will have to give up in return. We live 25 minutes from our chapel. I have cut back on any extra activities, outside of Sunday church because I can't afford the gas. I have decided to approach my Relief Society President and ask her if one of the 10 or so enrichment activities during the month can be held out our way. All of us in the outer areas are feeling the strain of the gas prices and being able to go to extra church activities.
I honestly don't know what is going to make this whole situation better.
I filled up yesterday also. $25.00 will only last me until next Wednesday!
I have been driving Bryans truck...over 4.30 for diesel. He was spending over $600 a month to drive to work. I can not wait till school is over. I too have been planning my trips to the store, so I try to go only once a week....but I pass it every day on the way to school, so its not that bad.
Superherotrainer is killing me. 10 enrichment activities! I'm the enrichment counselor in our ward and 2-3 is the max. We live close enough to the church to walk, but it's difficult to get people out to more than 2.. not that I want to .. since I don't want to go out for more than 2.
We are doing a lot of service projects in our Relief Society. We just made 6 full size quilts for humanitarian aid which actually ran short for the first time in a long time because of all of the disasters around the world. Every RS in our county was asked to donate 6 quilts and they gave us about 3 weeks to complete the task. Batting was awfully hard to come by.
The price of rice and wheat are making me nervous. I am trying to stock the food storage and using some of my economic stimulus check to enhance my storage. A lot of my friends are doing the same. I must admit... I'm not panicing.. but I am really concerned about everything that is going on.
When I was in high school I got 50 cents a day. It was what it was and I had to make do. I didn’t get a cost of living increase so…I would stop and buy 25 cents worth of gas and during first break at school I would buy a carton of milk and a maple bar donut. For lunch I bummed food off my friends. How embarrassing is that?!? Mt point was gas was less than 25 cents a gallon! Wow, how old am I ???
NY and I stay busy at home which saves money on gas. It’s just the two of us so that helps with the market cost although we’re both pushover’s when it come to buying treats for the babies.
Petrol at this time in southern California is 3.99 and over 4.00 for premium. My car takes regular and NY’s takes premium. (British cars, hmmm!)
Brian and Mindi have an Excursion which is a true guzzler. They just bought a Kia Spectra to which Brian explained…”I can make the payments and pay for the insurance on the Kia and still come out ahead of paying to put fuel in the Excursion.” Sadly it’s true.
We just bought several hundred pounds of bulk food for storage. We would have liked to buy more however there was a 100 pound limit on many things.
You know, for many many years our church leaders stopped counseling us about emergency preparedness. Now we’re hearing it all again and perhaps NOW is the time to listen. Ya think??
we paid $77.00 for gas thursday... OUCH!
we're paying $3.91. Next week I am sure it will be $4. It cost $78 to completely fill our van. Needless to say, we don't travel far from home (not even to my in-laws). Today I am dusting off my bike. Now that Dragonfly can ride his own bike, I can tow the two bugs in the chariot.
Our gas is the same as the trainer's. It was $71 to fill the minivan last time. Luckily I can go 2 weeks on a tank. Now that preschool is over, I will be able to cut back even more. I had to drive 20 min each way to preschool. I was already making my errands coincide with Tues/Thurs preschool days to save gas. Now, I'll probably cut back to once a week.
We are fortunate to have awesome pools and parks in our neighborhood. So, we'll be sticking close to home this summer. We are only taking one summer trip and that will not be altered due to gas prices.
You know what I'm doing about rising food prices. Bargain hunting! I do have to cut down on my trips though, because it is not worth the gas to run all over getting bargains. I just plan it carefully and all my stores are close together on the same street, so that helps.
