Russ and Linda!Through the tireless efforts of Russ and Linda Lance, our Ward had the opportunity to borrow the Dry Pack Canner from the Bishop's Storehouse in Davie, FL. Many of us ordered Wheat from the Bishops Storehouse, which totalled over 500 pounds that Russ and Linda had a team of helpers load up and bring to the Wellington Chapel. The Canner, the Wheat, The Cans, Lids, and all supplies were transported right to the Wellington Chapel.
For whatever reason, I can never make it when there is a trip to the Bishops Storehouse that is over an hour drive one way, so this was a HUGE lifesaver for me to have the supplies right in my own "backyard" and at a time I could actually take advantage of the opportunity.
Linda had the Dry Pack Canning operation organized from A-Z for those members of our Ward who wanted to can the wheat they ordered. Many people also brought their own rice, oats, powdered milk, etc. and made use of the Dry Pack Canner to store these items.
I was able to get 20 cans of Wheat for our Food Storage...AND....drum roll......
I went home and MADE homemade Whole Wheat Bread!
(yes, that HAD to be in large, bold print!)
Thank You, Thank You, Russ and Linda for organizing this project.
