What Is The Real Status?

On Facebook, That Is...
After a conversation this morning, I was not sure if I was in High School or with a group of adult women.
The subject of Facebook came up (that site that I have a LOVE/HATE Relationship with). The talk was centered on how much fun it is to be in contact with so many people from all over (I totally agree).
Comments were made about some of the recent photos posted and how much fun Spring Break looked for this person or that (I agree.) Someone asked me where I got my Easter Sweater (Talbots) as they saw it in a Facebook photo, etc....
Then the subject of Facebook Status came up...the part that stresses me because I never know what to write. I LOVE reading the status of others, but my own...not so much...I just never seem to think of anything creative or exciting (maybe that is the issue...not enough creativity or excitement..I don't think so on the excitement issue)
If you are not a Facebook user, click HERE to see my Profile Page and you will see an example of "status"... meaning everyone can choose to write whatever they want after their name such as Shauna is.......
So the Facebook talk continued to this question....How many Facebook Friends do you have? (See this is where I felt like I was in Jr or Sr High School again.) The numbers were flying around and it seemed to be a competition. In fact is WAS a competition. What? Hello? Anyhow...I had no clue how many Facebook Friends I have. I don't request friends or accept to be friends based on building my numbers. Yet, this seemed to be so important as the numbers kept flying back and forth.
This is where I just sat back and listened and was not too involved it the conversation. Good thing..because when I can home to check my Facebook Account, you know I was curious, I have 362 Facebook Friends...oh my....more than double of any number I heard this morning. I am so happy I did not know and could not give the number of 362 to the conversation.
I had not idea this whole Facebook Friends Number was a competition (at least to some). Which leads me to believe that the TRUE STATUS on Facebook is not the status at all...it is the Number of Friends (at least in the eyes of some...not mine)
So there just another type of "status" to stress over...which I will not think about for one minute....I'll leave the stressing to those who want to remain in Jr or Sr High.
For now, I have to be concerned about staying far away from Twitter.
What do you think...
Is the number of Facebook Friends a status for some?
Is that number the real status for some?
Tell me...how many Facebook Friends do YOU have?
I promise I wont be jealous if your number is higher than mine.
Do you have a Facebook Page?
Do you have a LOVE/HATE Relationship with
Facebook?
Talk to me....
Oh..and if you are my Friend on Facebook.....You are more than a number to me!!!
Thanks for being my Friend on Facebook or Anywhere.
Friends are Family!

Okay, I have approx 150 friends. I will admit that I am somewhat selective in who I choose or accept. I must have had some kind of decent relationship with the person in my life. I do not add people that I have only met once or briefly known just to get another friend. I can say that almost everyone on my friend's list is a friend and someone I care about.

I think it is wonderful to catch up with people that I haven't talked to in years; people I am interested in what is going on in their lives(like people I hung out with in my youth). I could probably double my numbers if I actually ventured into people from my high school days. I only have one person, who I graduated with on my list. I just really don't care to know that much about all the rest of my high school friends. I really don't think we would have that much in common anymore, so why bother. Call me a facebook snob:)

I do not update my status every day either. Sometimes I feel like we all know way too much about each other's lives and that it is not really healthy for psyches. I like to have my privacy more than most though. Just my two sense.
