Friday Trauma

Just another routine day of School Volunteering.... NOT...
Today we hosted a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon. We transformed the Teacher's Lunchroom into a serene beach cottage with lovely decorations, music, and prizes. The lunch was catered by Field of Greens Restaurant, except for the Fruit Salad, which was provided by yours truly. I used my usual white bowl and my famous top it all off with a Pineapple Top...it is the perfect touch for a fruit salad.
Everything was rolling along smoothly until I needed to refill the Fruit Salad Bowl......
I headed to the walk-in refrigerator for a new bowl of fruit. As I walked in to the refrigerator, the door closed behind me and BAM....I was LOCKED IN.....SERIOUSLY...LOCKED IN THE REFRIGERATOR WITH NO ONE AROUND TO NOTICE...sounds like a bad movie, but I was living the bad movie. I tried the emergency exit knob...it did not work (later I found out is was broken...no kidding). I kept trying the knob and pounding on the door. This happened at the height of school lunch service so no one was back in the kitchen area. I pounded and pounded, hoping someone would hear me. I prayed and I hoped that someone would need a supply from the refrigerator soon. What seemed like hours later (it was 10 minutes, maybe) the cafeteria cashier heard my pounding and came to my rescue.
"Oh", she said, "You have to keep that door propped open, the emergency knob is broken." Really, I am thinking to myself, Really....It's Broken?
Quickly, I headed back to the luncheon with more fruit. No one knew what trauma I had just experienced so that they could enjoy a bowl of fresh fruit for lunch.
Isn't that life? Many times we have NO IDEA what someone had to go through so that we can enjoy something wonderful.
I can be happy that I was not locked in for the weekend....it could have been so much worse...it was only the refrigerator...not the sub-zero freezer!
Happy Weekend!
Happy Mothers Day!

It was a dark and stormy night.............

sounds like a dime store horror novel!

Shauna, when people say to chill out, they don't mean for you to stand in a refrigerator!!!

Oh my...
Two things come to mind,
1. Only in Wellington are the school luncheon catered.
2. Always keeo your cell phone in your bra.
Hugs!!
