Celebrating

Reunion Celebration:
In 1984 (27 years ago), Ron was called to be a Bishop. The Ward (Congregation) he presided over was comprised of Single Adults ages 18-65+. Everyone was welcome. Singles, Single Parents, Young, Not-So-Young, etc. It was a unique time in our family history. It was time we cherish and will always hold dear in our hearts. We formed friendships that are eternal and consider the bonds we have as sacred relationships.
Many lives were blessed during this unique time and the blessings continue to this day.
Due to Missionary Service, Marriage, College Studies, Employment Transfers, and, in general, forward motion in the lives of many Ward Members, the Ward was closed in 1985 (25 years ago). The numbers were shrinking and there were new guidelines for Singles Wards.
To say that closing the ward was sad is an understatement.
When the announcement was made, the members were stunned. This was their family. This is where they belonged. This is where they felt loved and accepted. This is where they fit. This was their home.
Yes, it was sad, but closing the Ward could not diminish the eternal bonds of love and friendship that were formed.
Ron and I have been delighted to stay in touch with so many amazing people from that era. Over the year, we have celebrated their successes and felt pain for the bumps they face a long life's journey.
This weekend is a celebration week.
We are hosting a TWENTY FIVE YEAR REUNION
of the West Palm Beach Singles Ward Members.
Friday Night: Volleyball at The Carandis Building
Saturday Morning: The Ft Lauderdale Temple groundbreaking (who would have ever dreamed we would have a temple so close-The Atlanta Temple was dedicated while we were together and we were grateful to drive 12 hours instead of 24 to Washington DC)
Saturday afternoon and evening: The Famous Croquet Tournament (we still have "The Eagle In The Cup" Cup Trophy) along with Cookout, Swimming, and a lot of laughs
Sunday: Church and an afternoon Mingle with lunch.
Ron's Counselors are traveling to be here, as many others are.
We are excited for this weekend of laughs, reunion, and celebration!!!!!!
Where did Twenty Five Years Go?
