December in Paradise

Lake Worth Beach Today...
With Brent returning to Atlanta tomorrow and Andrew returning to Utah on Tuesday, soaking up every ray of warmth is high on the list. We headed to Lake Worth Beach for a Picnic and then on to the water.

Brent always has an ample supply of sunscreen ready to slather on at any given moment.

Bud's Chicken was on the menu today.
Loooove Buds Chicken! Don't love having to wear my glasses with more and more regularity.

A Change of clothes after lunch and Katherine is ready to head to the glorious sand and water.

Megan took a power nap inside the large hole she dug.

Ron and I were just plain happy to sit and feel the breeze, soak in the sun, and watch the waves, people, birds, and general beauty of our surroundings.

Andrew could not resist pestering Katherine for any length of time. For those of you who know Andrew..I am sure you are finding it difficult to believe Andrew would pester anyone. (Not)

Brent enjoyed every minute of Lake Worth Beach. Now it is back to Atlanta...wind chill and all.

Spring Break

Spring Break...

It does not get any better than this... Living in the Spring Break Capitol!!!

Today we went to Lake Worth Beach.

Megan, Jaimie, and Katherine dug a hole that was larger than all three of them combined when complete.

I did my usual, invite all the moms and kids from Church. This makes a trip to the beach fun for everyone... the kids have lots of fun playing with their friends and so do the MOMS!

We were wearing sun screen, but still got a lot of sun.

It was one of those windy days making it difficult to feel the sun frying your skin. We'll return on Friday for more!!!!
What a great contrast to the snow I saw on Sunday and Monday in Utah this week!!!!

Back To School

End of Summer Vacation and Back To School...

We celebrated the end of Summer Vacation yesterday! Every Thursday has been Beach Day for the moms and kids from Church and the Community (organized by yours truly). It has been a fun tradition, one I look forward to each week. The kids have had fun with friends and the moms have had plenty of great adult conversation.

I could tell my girls were ready for summer to end when Megan told me, "You know, the beach is always the same... The water just goes in and out and in and out......" She has obviously had her fill of the beach. Give her a month and she will be begging to see the water 'just go in and out and in and out'. A Saturday Beach trip will take care of that.

Generally, this time of year, I am more than ready for the routine that Back To School brings. This year, I find myself wishing we had just a few more weeks to enjoy each other.

The school supplies are purchased and ready, the clothes and new shoes are ready, the girls are excited and ready, the teachers have called...it is apparent.... I had better get ready!

Beach Day

By the number of Beach Blog Posts, it would appear as though all we do is go to the ***beach...

Not so, however, it a great photo-op activity. We go every Thursday, and some Saturdays this summer. This photo from last week was at Lake Worth Beach. It was one of those nearly perfect days at the Beach. Hot, though. We spent most of the day in the water, which is unusual for me.

Beach Day is always full of fun.... Shell collecting, swimming, digging, burying each other, jumping waves, etc. The girls look forward to playing with great friends each week.

***Note*** This week, we are scheduled for Dubois Beach Park. There is, however, a glitch I have not blogged about. During our last trip to Dubois, the Lagoon was shut down due to High Bacteria content in the water. The sheriff was there, the area was roped off, and the lifeguard put up a Red no swimming flag.

Since that day, I have not been able to confirm whether the park is open or still closed. I will report after our Thursday trek to the beach.

I will be so sad if that park is closed indefinitely, as the Park Ranger indicated was a possibility.

Beach Boat

This boat is the greatest when used at Du Bois Park for going with the current when the lagoon is filling up or emptying out.

I am not too keen on this boat at the actual beach where these little girls can be carried out to sea in no time flat. For now, the pool and Du Bois are the ideal spots for this totally fun boat! It has 2 oars for direction and going against the current.

Dubois Beach Park Is Open

Hooray!!!! After being closed for a 4 week renovation (as the sign said for the past 1 1/2 years) Dubois Beach Park is open. This spot is full of memories! My boys (and their cousins and friends)were raised at Dubois Park. After erosion and Hurricane damage, the little lagoon is back! For any one who has ever lived in or visited Palm Beach County, you know this is a must visit spot. From time to time, I will post my Dubois park memories and photos from the past 25 years! This is the 2007 welcome back to Dubois Park. It is like an old friend has returned.

This is the inlet side of the park. The Jupiter Lighthouse seems farther away this year.

This is the newest change. The bridge is straight ahead in the right of this photo. To the left is the area that used to be trees, rocks, and mangrove-like vegetation (where all the cousins got cut up at one time-that will be a blog in and of itself) Now the area is terraced with compact sand and a seawall to help prevent further erosion. The parking lot is to the left of this photo.

This is the terraced area. The restrooms are behind here, the bridge and inlet are to the right.
