Even In South Florida...

March Can Come In Like A Lion...

(As it did yesterday and today-43 degrees this am!))

However, unlike every other place, it is certain that March will leave like a Lamb. March looks to be an exciting month with Birthdays in my family, signs of spring everywhere, College Basketball March Madness, and Time Out For Women in less than 3 weeks. Then Spring Break...Hit The Beach!
It is time to put out my Ginormous Yard Easter Eggs and welcome every pleasure of spring. In South Florida, Spring is usually bullied by the swift arrival of summer. When summer arrives...it refuses to leave and always over stays her welcome!

One wish I have at this moment...more time to write and post about the in depth things that are happening in my life....hopefully.. soon, but the days are quite packed at this point.

Spring Is Here!
Oh how I love putting out my Yard Easter Eggs each year.

Not one Easter Season goes by without someone knocking on my door to ask where I got my large eggs or to tell me how much they enjoy walking or riding by my house.We are in severe drought water restrictions which means our outside sprinklers can only be used one day per week. With that in place, I was not anxious to plant a huge number of impatiens and then hand water them each day. I opted for petunias and marigolds in only two spots along with my front porch planters. Had I planted impatiens, they would have been planted long before Christmas. Soon, the heat will come and they do not do well in heat.
Katherine went a little camera happy and shot most every move I made as I planted. Even with all the shots to choose from, none are very flattering, but hey, I was out digging in dirt!
Note the lovely Florida soil...sand. I have to add potting soil and lots of nutrients to get anything to grow and be happy. Note the little pellets in the lower right corner.... snail poison. Any time I plant flowers, the snail world rejoices. I have to stay a few steps ahead of the snails or they eat everything. They know a good thing when they see it.

I love this color combination. I was hoping to add some purple petunias, but did not find any the day I was on the hunt.

PS- My Yard Easter Eggs came from two sources..... The Dollar Store and Wal Mart. I collected them over a period of 3 years. I have not seen the largest ones for a few years, but the small ones are always at The Dollar Store. They sell out quickly.
