Does This Make Sense?

This is the week of all weeks for Florida's Public Schools.
EVERYTHING for the Schools, Teachers, Students rides on FCAT Performance...EVERYTHING. Passing, Failing, Graduating, Funding, etc.
Over the weekend, The Superintendent of Schools, Art Johnson, called with a recorded message. He reminded parents and students to eat a good breakfast, including a serving of protein, to limit activities each evening before Testing, to be on time for school, and to get a good night's rest.....
Yea right...the first week AFTER we LOSE an HOUR due to Daylight Savings Time. This happened last year, also. Hello? Does this make any sense to you or is it just me? Let's get out a Calendar and think this through...
Don't get me going on my opinion of the FCAT, you will see a side of me I don't often show. Put it this way...the FCAT was something that I did not miss when my kids were in a Private School (although I would NOT put them back there..I LOVE the schools they are in and have stated over and over..they are actually better all the way around than the school we came from..except for this FCAT stuff). We had standardized Testing, but the pressure was nothing like that put on Teachers and Students for top performance on The FCAT.

OK, so maybe I am just a little cranky due to losing an hour of sleep last night., but does this make any sense to you?

I feel better already, just putting this in print. Now I am off to get some sleep. After all, I have to be up early cooking a nutritious Breakfast EVERYDAY this week, protein included.

Ah yes, the FCAT. But what's this about a "good breakfast, including a serving of protein"? That's a hokey load of garbage. What the kids need is sugar to get their brains moving! Feed them chocolate.

We have the same thing here. Takes all the creativity out of teaching in my opinion. About their timing, yeah that wasn't so bright on the state's part. I don't know anyone adjusting to Daylight Savings very well. My kids certainly are not at their happiest right now.
