Something Exciting

Is Happening This Weekend!
Fall officially arrives! Saturday Night! Yes, I know that is not what the calendar says. However, for me, LDS General Conference in the spring and fall signal the change in seasons. I seriously set my calendar by these weekends.
The General Relief Society Meeting this Saturday sets my mind on fall and the changes my heart and spirit need to focus on. It also sets the tone and ushers in the next weekend of General Conference Sessions***
Our Ward is hosting a dinner prior to the Broadcast, which will be televised via Satellite at our Chapel. I love the sisterhood and girl poser time, however, after dinner I think I will come home to watch the Broadcast alone, as I did last year. There was something about hearing those messages while sitting in solitude that brought even more power to my soul.
I just cannot imagine missing this breath of fresh air!!!!!
Do you enjoy the Relief Society Broadcast?
Does your Ward/Stake host a dinner prior to the Broadcast?
Do you view the Broadcast at home or at a Chapel?
***Someday, I dream that the RS Broadcast in October and The Young Women Broadcast in April can be moved to the Friday Night of the same weekend as General Conference, hence, being the first session of Conference. I maintain that Women and Young Women would benefit greatly by feeling like their Conference Session was actually part of General Conference Weekend. It is difficult to get Women (and especially Young Women) to feel their sessions are connected to General Conference.
When I was a RS President (both times) and then again when I was a Ward and Stake YW President, I considered sending this suggestion to my Leaders in Salt Lake, but decided not to be the "letter-writing" type that may be labelled as not supportive.
Another benefit....for those who live far away (like I do) and attend General Conference, occasionally, it would be nice to have the YW and RS Sessions scheduled on Friday Night, providing the opportunity to attend them AND General Conference.
OK...just had to spout my thoughts....I know ...they are rambling and long...but oh so sincere.

I really enjoyed last year's Women's Broadcast. Our Stake is having dessert before the 8pm Broadcast. I'll be there with bells on since I'm the RSP now. :)
