Remember To Say Thank You

Last week, I came home to the mail sitting on the table. Ron had attached a post-it note to a letter addressed to me from The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles. I had neglected to tell him I had recently sent a long over due letter of thanks to Elder L Tom Perry. Being the gracious man he is, I received a beautiful response. (In my original letter,  I meant to write that a response was not necessary as I know how busy he is)

 In July, I was walking in downtown Salt Lake City and spotted Elder Perry a few steps ahead of me. Knowing that he needs his privacy, I would have never walked up to him and initiated a conversation, yet I was reminded of his presentation at 2009 BYU Women's Conference which changed the course of  my life. While he was speaking, I received a strong prompting that I was to serve as PTA President for the next 2 years. I was to consider it as a 2 year mission and the Lord gave me the comfort that He would be with me every step of the way.

As the 2 year service progressed, it was apparent that the Lord was in charge. I needed him at every turn and he gave me words and thoughts when I needed them the most. I felt the spirit directing me in small and large situations.
There were very few days I did not have a gospel-related conversation. I know that for many people, I was the first contact they had ever had with a Mormon. 
All the years of serving in Church callings gave me to experience and confidence I needed to conduct Board Meetings, Speak in front of large groups, Handle crisis situations, Maintain confidentiality, Render Compassionate and Welfare service,Plan agendas, Plan events, Stick to a budget, and interface with personalities of every type. 
Many times over the past 2 years, I have drawn strength from the power of the answer I received that I was to serve as PTA President.
I am grateful for Elder Perry's counsel to be involved in our communities. I am grateful for his goodness and the pure power he presents each word of counsel.
This past weekend, we had Stake Conference here. One of the words of counsel from our Stake President was to remember to say thank you, especially to those who serve in callings. I was so happy I had taken the time to say thank you to Elder Perry for his service.
