Pioneer Trek

Megan departed for Pioneer Trek this morning... during the middle of JULY in FLORIDA.
Most of her clothing came from Goodwill. Her apron was made from an old pillowcase and a contrasting piece of fabric for the deep and wide pocket that will be ever so functional as she treks for the next few days.
About 100 youth are going to Deseret Ranch in Central Florida to participate in a reenactment of the Mormon Pioneers' epic trek west in the 1840's.
They will pull handcarts, prepare their own food, sleep out under the stars (with a tarp under them and over them), and have a small glimpse in to the  sacrifices made and conditions experienced by the early Mormon Pioneer Saints.
Megan is very concerned about being physically up to this activity. She struggled with breathing while she was on the Bike Hike at Young Women camp and we suspect she has asthma. Ron gave her a blessing last night and this morning, I encouraged her to call on the power of that blessing to get her through the next few days.
