Holiday Blast From The Past

Thanksgiving 1981
Curt's First Thanksgiving...Lake Worth, FL
Four Months Old
Little did he know that on Thanksgiving 2008, he would be moving in to his new home in Michigan with his wife, Carmen.
Yes...The Love Nest is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Curt and Carmen are spending Thanksgiving in their new home.
For photos and details
Note the outfit Curt is wearing. He was taught well in his youth....I promise.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Housewarming!
There is a saying about moving in when it is raining or snowing. They live in Michigan, so rain or snow is a real possibility all winter long.
Something about if it rains or snows while you are moving in, you will have good luck while you live in that house. The odds for bad weather are stacked in their favor.
Have you ever heard that?

Blast From The Past....
Wellington Ward Primary
circa early 1990's
Does anyone know the exact year?
Can you name some of the faces?
I will post on Facebook with tags I know. I have been hoping to
find a photo of Carol-Ann and Ryan Jump together as children.
I see Ryan and her sister, Hannah, but not Carol Ann.

I will also post on my Wellington Ward Blog I am thinking this is when Sis. Rane was Primary President???

Blast From The Past

Twenty Seven Years Ago Today
August 2, l981
Blessing Day for our first child, our son, Curt!
He was 3 weeks old.
Curt was Blessed by his dad, Ron, at the West Palm Beach,
Carandis Road Chapel.
At the time, we were in The Lake Worth Ward Congregation.
We lived in Lake Worth on Stevens Road in a Triplex.
Oh...what happy simple days.
Ron and I were approaching our 1 year anniversary at this point.
One year earlier on August 2, 1980, I attended the Provo LDS Temple
in preparation for our wedding in the Salt Lake LDS Temple the
following week.
Three months after these photos were taken, I was a 21 year old Relief Society
President and Ron was serving on the High Council and was Teaching
Seminary one evening per week.
August is full of significant dates for our family, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and
milestones. Stay tuned for more.

Blast From The Past

Every Picture Tells A Story
Take A Trip With Me Down Memory Lane
April 22, 1984
At our house in Greenacres, FL
I am in the middle of sorting and scanning photos for Jeffrey and Alison's Wedding.
I came across this photo taken by my Grandma Inez.
She wrote this on the back....
Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984
Bishop Ron, Shauna, and La Dene.
This was the day Ron was Sustained as a Bishop of the West Palm Beach 1st Ward.
It was a Singles Ward that covered the West Palm Beach Stake Boundary.
I was Relief Society President at this time (ignore the hair..it was growing out of an experimental perm) and at this point knew a release was in the near future.
My Grandpa Nash and his wife, Grandma Inez were here visiting from Utah for this weekend.
When my parents found out that Ron was being sustained as Bishop this day, my mom flew down from New Jersey. Looking back, it is amazing she got a last minute flight to Florida from New Jersey on Easter Weekend.
This day was the beginning of many of the choicest experiences we have ever had as a family. The bonds we formed and the service opportunities will bless us eternally.

Pedicure Time

Curt and Katherine
Not many little girls can say their big brother gives them pedicures. Before Curt headed back to BYU in January 2000, he treated Katherine to a pedicure. Katherine loved her "Curtie" and loved showing off the toe nails painted by him.
The was in the kitchen at the Orchid Court house, January 2000, right after the Boy Scout High Adventure to Camp Sea Base.

Blast From The Past

Christmas 1985
Palm Beach Mall
Curt with Santa....Still wearing his Halloween Super Man Costume every day.... Under-Roos on the outside of his pant bottoms and his red rubber boots for an authentic look!

This is one of my favorite little boy Christmas photos.

Curt, Jeffrey, and Andrew visited this Santa at Palm Beach Mall every year until the magic faded.

There was a small train set up near Santa. If we were there on a quiet day, the boys would be allowed to ride round and round the track far more times than the 1 or 2 standard laps. This was the highlight of our trips to the Mall during December.

Dubois Beach Park 1989

Eighteen Years Ago... Blast From The Past
This is how my three sons spent their summers. Cousins, Robert and Christopher would stay with us and it was like having two sets of twins (Curt & Chris, Jeff & Robert), and a toddler (Andrew) Before Andrew arrived, my double stroller would hold Robert and Jeff with Curt and Chris each holding on to a side. This is how we got through the zoo, mall, parking lots, and every other place. Total strangers stopped me constantly to oogle over my two sets of twins and my bravery at venturing out alone! By far, the best summer memories are from Dubois Beach Park. The boys played all day and I actually sat most of the time and got a lot of reading done. Not to mention the fabulous tan as a side benefit.
Andrew, Robert, Jeffrey, Curt, Christopher (note the crabs in Curt and Jeffrey's hands) I am not sure who originally dubbed the one section of Dubois as "Crab Island", but it still sticks today, eighteen years later. Last week, we noted the abundance of crabs and that they were larger than usual. We attribute this to the park being closed for so long. Nature got a break from daily human invasions.
This photo tells a story and brings back a flood of memories.
Andrew, Jeffrey, Robert, Curt, Christopher
These rocks are gone now and this area is a terraced beach. The trees and lush vegetation have been cleared out by the recent Hurricanes and erosion.
Every time I see this photo, there is a story. All five boys were climbing on these large and very sharp rocks. At the very same time, all five boys started crying and bleeding. They had been cut by the rocks. There I was with five children to comfort and care for all at one time. I did not know who to pick up first. I hurried over and wrapped them in towels and carried them to our "spot" on the beach. All the while, each boy is crying and crying and bleeding and bleeding--not quietly. I needed help, yet everyone just stared at me like, "Do something with all your crying kids, lady." I asked someone to go to the lifeguard station for band aids and first aid supplies. He said he was about to leave and did not have time. The apathy around me was disheartening. I left all 5 crying bleeding boys and went to the lifeguard myself. He was just about as helpful as all the people who had been staring at me for the past 15 minutes. I finally got some band aids, cleaned up the boys, wrapped them in towels and headed home. What a day. That day, I promised myself I would always help another mom in need whether she was a total stranger or what ever the circumstances may be.

More Recital Memories...

Blast from the Past....
Speaking of recitals, these photos are from Curt's first piano recital.... June 1989, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Who can name each person in the photos below? I know you all want the name of the hairdresser for the cute blonde chickie! I will check to see if she is still working in Wellington at Pizzazz!

Fact: Not one (maybe one) of these people live in Florida at this time. Who can name not only names, but where each person is?
