Just Cleaning Up

I find far too many fun memories and want to scan and share them immediately. This photo was on a Poster that Andrew made for his High School Spanish Class Project, titled, Familia de Hostetler.
See there, I can blame Andrew for anything, even when he is 3,000 miles away. Love you, Andrew!
This photo is Andrew, Joel, and my brother, Mark with their matching teeth. Several summers ago, they walked around downtown Salt Lake asking passersby for directions to various sites.
I am turning my computer OFF for now...the piles in my office need to be reduced significantly TODAY.

Blast From The Past

Atlanta November 1997

Here are the New Jersey and Florida cousins

all dressed for Church. We were in Atlanta for Thanksgiving,

yet....it was a SURPRISE! Right after this photo was taken,

we headed to Church where Grandma (my mom) was sitting

up front with the Choir. Our herd managed to walk into the

chapel and be seated without Grandma even noticing.

It wasn't long before our presence was known and the

Thanksgiving Week Celebrations were in full swing

Curt is holding Katherine and Jeffrey is holding Nicole.

Here the cousins are on the first day of a

NEW THANKSGIVING TRADITION....

Eating Out!

Everyone is dressed and ready to enjoy a meal.The girls

are in their Old Navy clearance Matchy-Matchy Dresses...

the boys...they are thankful on this Thanksgiving Day that

I could NOT find matching clothes for THEM!

On a sad note, while we were at this Thanksgiving Dinner,

my Grandma passed away out in Utah. Shortly after this family

gathering, many of us headed to Utah for her funeral.

I know you are wondering what type of hair gel Jeffrey used

back in the day....I am not certain which brand...I am only

certain that he used it in LARGE amounts.

My Favorite Place To Eat In Utah!

Parkers Drive In, American Fork, Utah

5th East and State Street

I say it often, it is easy to eat my way through Utah.

The food is sooooo darn good in every corner of Utah.

Parkers is at the top of my places to stop for....

Burgers, Fries, Fry Sauce (the best) Fresh Limes,

Real Cherry Cokes, Brown Toppers....No, I did not eat

one of everything in one stop!

There was no question as to where my cousin, Darlene, and I

would meet for lunch.....PARKERS!

Lunch at Parkers Drive In with Darlene was part

of one of the most wonderful days I have had in a long time.

I loved every minute I spent with my dear cousin.

We had a slumber party in Salt Lake.....No one had to tell
us to be quiet, turn out the lights, or go to sleep!
Dinner was from another favorite spot....Cafe Rio. Mmmm
We visited her dad, my Uncle Lawrence. It did my heart
a world of good to spend time with Uncle Lawrence. Recently,
I have feared I would not see him before he left this earth.
Welaughed and cried and laughed and cried.
His body is failing yet his mind is sharp as ever.
He shared some stories with us from years gone by
and talked to us about his dear wife,
my Aunt Marilyn. He misses her terribly and so do I.
Seeing Dear Family, Laughing and Crying all Day,
Eating at a lifetime favorite spot,
Being in Utah, Seeing Andrew settled and happy at College.
It just all made for a great trip....even if I had to cut it short due to
the possible threat of Hurricane Ike.
This trip, I was very aware of how important it is to make an effort to
stay in touch with extended family. In my case, geography is
a challenge. Most of my relatives live in Utah. It takes a
concentrated effort to remain in contact. I am so thankful that,
as a child, once we moved away from Utah,
my parents made sure we visited our family there each
summer. The connections to my extended family will
bless my life forever.

The last photo I took with The World Trade Center as a

backdrop. I love this photo and the stories it can tell.

Ron, with all of those children, wearing a BYU hat. I was taking

the photo, but I am sure there were those who thought my

sister in law was just another wife. This was something we would

laugh at over the years as we traveled together.

Many of our summers included visits to New York City with

The World Trade Center ever present.

This was our last visit that included The Twin Towers.

Little did we know this was our last visit with the

World Trade Center as part of the sky line.

Ever so faint in the background are the Twin Towers behind

my nephew, Lumpy, in his stroller. Katherine is on the fence to

the left. I have a group cousin photo, but just have to find it.

I was at home with Megan and Katherine.
I called my hair salon to make an appointment with Karen.
My neighbor, Vivian answered the phone at the salon and said,
get the TV On! Something terrible is happening in New York!
I got the TV on for sure...
Then I got on the phone to Ron and so many others.
I called Jeffrey in Idaho at BYU-I and woke him up with the news.
(If you know Jeffrey...you don't wake him up for anything...not even
an attack on The World Trade Center)
Curt was in Venezuela servind a mission
and Andrew was at Welligton High School.
First I thought of my brother in law who could be in the City
and my sister and their children.
Once I heard his voice and knew they were alright, I
breathed somewhat easier.
At this time, I remember feeling such a deep love for
my family, friends, and country.
It was a time like no other I had experienced.
I just wanted to reach out and hug everyone!

at this point. She fell as we were leaving Florida and had
a swollen nose with black and blue eyes for most of this
summer trip.

This is at the house that was on the North West Corner of

700 East and 4500 South in Salt Lake City.

After this photo was taken, Grandpa piled everyone in the

truck and stopped by my house in Midvale, Utah, to

pick up me before we headed south of Salt Lake

to his pastures near Lehi, UT.

I cannot remember why I was not at the

sleepover at Aunt Carol's the night before.

This photo was taken in early 1969 before we moved to

Missouri.
